Description
Sir William Foster Stawell (1815-1889) was the second Chief Justice of Victoria (serving from 1857 until 1886) and the Chancellor of the University of Melbourne from May 1881 to May 1882.
Daguerreotype image (glass), is framed within gold and off-white coloured mount, inside a detailed gold frame. The frame is housed inside a case lined with bugundy velvet. The case is made from what appears to be black leather with a brass clasp.
