Description
A photograph showing the engine car of a train with four men standing in and around the engine, on the return of Russell Grimwade and G.P.Smith's motor trip from Melbourne to Adelaide. This was the first successfully completed car trip between these cities and took place over 5 days from May 30th to June 3rd 1905, the actual travel time being 36 hours and 26 minutes for the 604 miles covered. Inscription: "On the way from Wolseley to Naracoort June 15th 05" is written in ink beneath the photograph. Previous Control Number: PA/19 page 10
